ASDA Saving You Money Everyday

ASDA Foundation

We believe in supporting the local causes our colleagues get behind, helping to make a difference to your local community.

For us, sharing their passion is the ideal way to give something back to the communities that support us. That is why we set up the ASDA Foundation, which through a range of projects supports good causes across the UK.

About The ASDA Foundation

The ASDA Foundation is our charitable trust which was set up in 1988 to support local good causes chosen by our colleagues, and is funded by profits from the mid–week national lottery.

We see the foundation as one of the many ways to give something back to the communities that support us. That’s why we lend a hand to the wide range of good causes with which our colleagues are involved — including everything from local charities and playgroups to football teams.

The ASDA Foundation is primarily for colleagues who have already raised money for their chosen cause through their store or depot, and require additional support.

Under the Foundation’s terms, we will assist any charity in the UK, as well as people and projects who require financial assistance, providing they have the support of local ASDA colleagues.

Because we receive thousands of applications each year, we are not able to support every cause, and cannot consider applications where the donation will be used to pay salaries or where it will be added to general funds.

We will always look at each application based on these criteria and on the individual merits of the cause, and its potential benefits to the local community.

How to apply

Unfortunately, The ASDA Foundation can only support a limited number of requests received direct from registered charities and local community groups.

We are set up to support requests which have the direct support and involvement from our colleagues locally. Please contact your local Store or Depot to see if this is something they are able to support.

What can you apply for?

The ASDA Foundation is set up to assist any charity in the UK as well as people and projects who require financial assistance. The ASDA Foundation won’t consider applications where the money is to be used for salaries or will be paid into general funds.

How to apply?

The ASDA Foundation receives many requests for support each year so unfortunately we can't support each cause that applies.

We will look at each application based on criteria and merit – this is why you should provide as much information as possible on the application on how this will benefit the local community.

What happens then?

Once the Trustees have made their decisions (based on the information you provided) you will be informed whether your application was successful.

Your donation will then be paid in the form of a cheque from the ASDA Foundation and we look forward to supporting you and the good causes in your community.

The Trustees’ decision and discretionary is final.

All of our trustees are passionate about supporting and making a difference to local charities and the communities where we live and work.

The trustees meet once a quarter to go through the management accounts, looking at new ideas the Foundation can be involved with to make sure the Foundation supports as many local charities/community projects as possible throughout the year.
